lovely letterpress #3

Well, 'lovely' isn't exactly fitting but its in keeping with earlier posts. 'Vibrant, nostalgic, industrial, clever' better capture the work of Firecracker Press in St. Louis, MO. Founder Eric Woods has made his mark reviving vintage printing techniques, contemporary technology and whimsical design that echoes days past. His work has been recognized locally and nationally, both a literary following and commercial niche. Reminiscent of the Industrial Revolution and Americana ephemera, Firecracker's appeal is timeless. Texture speaks to the senses, layers of hue pop off the page, typography exudes personality and hand-crafting wins again. Delightful design for your next eye-catching project.

A twist on growing up in the rural Midwest where creating by hand is a way of life, "Their tools would be those of ink and paper, of word and symbol, signifier and signified."

I like Firecracker Press's work very much. I would love for Secret Leaves to figure out a way to work with them at some point. I enjoyed the video about their print shop. Thanks for sharing it.

Printing has always excited me - what a great bit of nostalgia and history here. I still have some old sewing notions from trips to the local five and dime.
The graphics have such a practical quality, and a strong work ethic.
