happy birthday frank

I share the same birthday with Frank Lloyd Wright and can only wish for his longevity. For as long as I can remember I've secretly loved that we share this celebratory day. That we're kindred spirits balancing the duality of all good Gemini's; form and function, hand-crafted and machine, resolved and wanderlust, art and nature. His career bookends the 20th century, beginning with the revolution of the Arts and Crafts movement and peeking as a Modernist. His honesty to materials, his 'organic architecture' and his signature patterning have been constants throughout his career. He was pivotal as well in redefining the American residential landscape pioneering the Prairie Style. Influenced by the vast expanse of the Midwest, this aesthetic speaks to the surrounding environment, intertwines and accents the planes, the hues and the outreaching sky. His dedication to beauty as significant to society has found new life today in the world of art and design. This contemporary movement to craft, to collaborate, to honor nature and to sustain is his brilliant legacy.

"Study nature, love nature, stay close to nature. It will never fail you." ~Wright

Love the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright, our home has a "wannabee" nod to Frank. Nature melding into his design is the beauty of it.
Ny favorite is the Guggenheim, we try to go often.

Happy birthday to both you and Frank. I had the pleasure of visiting a Frank Lloyd Wright house when I was in your part of the world - it was magic.

Lovely blog by the way!
