belle oubli

Hauntingly beautiful figures softly welling from the surface itself. The work of French artist, Alexandre Day is gorgeous, caught between faded vintage photos and beautifully hand-rendered sketch. The gaze of his subjects, both preoccupied and pointed, welcome our eyes upon them. His drawings truly mesmerize, like ash on a surface taking form, enveloped within an ethereal white space. His blog here, his muse here. Beautiful oblivion, indeed.

Are you willing to be sponged out, erased, cancelled, made nothing? Are you willing to be made nothing? Dipped into oblivion? If not, you will never really change.

The images are haunting as is the quote! I think I'll need to put this in a journal somewhere to think about later!

I was lucky to be in Nantes for one of his exhibition last year. It was great. With Adolie they are just a perfect couple !!
