muse

Breathtaking. The stunning conceptual work of J. Morgan Puett is a feast for the senses. First drawn to her textiles, woven with a rural history of the deep South, I found several layers of meaning to explore. A lovely description here, regarding her efforts toward honoring 'labor and missing links to history'. Her focus on collaboration and local craft are embodied in her installations as well as her (former) Soho-based fashion house. Her work suggests a collective memory of garments, tradition and 'coziness' but aspires toward 'inventing a future through history and material culture'. Magical indeed and thoughtfully homespun. I'm honored to share her alma mater, but also share enormous affection for her craft, her palette and homage to timeless form.

thanks, secretleaves
